More Summer Figures

Ah I know we are well into fall but I needed to get a couple more sculptures out here to you all from this summer. Here they be:

Parousia, mixed media assemblage (including wood, found objects, brass and tin); 16"x15"x8,"

“Parousia”  (mixed media assemblage including wood, found objects, brass and tin); I wanted this figure to move with the movement of the birds bursting up around him.  The diagonal stripes of the torso actually come to me as an idea because of a shirt I have that is striped that way.

A close up of Parousia. His nose was a salt shaker and his head a wooden float. The birds are all cut out of an old tin.

"Tender"

“Tender” (mixed media assemblage including wood, found objects, bone, and pate’ de verre, 12″x16″x9″).  The head is a pate’ de verre so I made it originally in clay, made a mold, and then did it in glass.  I liked the idea of a figure that is a landscape, tending to all that is within it.

This is "Tender's back side. I had a nice time hiding figures.

This is “Tender’s back side. I had a nice time hiding figures in it, and I especially like how the shoulder of the figure is supported by the body of a wooden deer.
