The Knoxville-Rothenburg Sketchbook #4: Flight to Knoxville

Friday October 14th 2011 I was supposed to be leading a men’s weekend in Oregon that happens once a year; instead I was on a flight to say goodbye to my father, whom I discovered less than two weeks earlier had terminal cancer.  Two days later, Sunday the 16th, my father died at a hospital in Maryville Tennessee.  Below is the sketch I drew on that Friday while on the flight from Portland.

I had recently broken the tip of my finger,

I had recently broken the tip of my finger (as seen in the figure drawing), and chose to dive into allegory to express all that was going on inside of me while on the flight.
