I know, an odd name for a show, but it is actually the title of the piece on this post; and the work featured on the card for an exhibition I have of my work in Newport Oregon.
Ten of the Nineteen works that will be featured in the show were actually begun in the summer of 2005, but were only recently completed last fall. What struck me is how I viewed the subject matter that I was addressing in the incomplete works in a very different manner with the perspective of almost five years. The work in turn I felt ended up being less “black and white” conceptually and more about how perceptions change, people change, and we simply have to be the wisest we can in the moment.
These works and others will be featured in a solo show I have out at the Oregon Coast from June 4th to June 26th, at the Newport Visual Arts Center Upstairs Gallery in Newport. Here is their website: http://www.coastarts.org/home.cfm?dir_cat=96458
The work I’m featuring is the ink/watercolor/gouache pieces and about six works of kilnworked glass. In their larger space downstairs in their center there will be a very nice contemporary glass show of about four artists. Should be a great show and worth the trip. If you’re on the coast any time in June stop by and check both shows out.
The opening is Next Friday June 4th from 5:00-7:00. Come on out and say “Hi” for it. I’ll be there.
Address is 777 NW Beach Drive. Phone number 541-265-6569. Gallery hours 12 noon – 4pm, Tuesday-Saturday.
