"Plea", Tim Timmerman, 27 1/2" x 24 1/2" x 4 1/2", oil on board, assemblage, reclaimed wood and lumber, painted ceramic, found object; 4/10
Here is the finished piece “Plea” that uses the painting that was featured in the March 10th post. These works developed quite organically for me. The small ceramic figure I had made about a year ago and intended to use in a totally different piece, and yet when I placed him in front of this tornado, I knew I had a relationship between the two pieces that I had to use.
The legs were bought in the fall at a architectural salvage place in Aurora, as well as the crucifix (from Belgium) that I got at an antique shop in downtown Portland. I have been reading the Psalms often as of late and found them bubbling up in the context of the final piece.
Love it! Is it installed somewhere already, or could we “borrow” it this Thursday morning or next? NFC’s Women’s Bible Fellowship has been studying the Psalms this semester.
Hey Jen- it’s in an exhibit down in Salem till the end of June (see an earlier post or the “What’s up” tab). Thanks for the nice comment!
Great, I’ll send people down there to see it (and figure out a time when we can get down there ourselves)!
